well amazing to me anyway!
somewhere between surgery & 3 weeks of heavy sedation my brother H has lost his ability to speak. at first i thought it was the residual effect of his medication wearing-off but it's not. something happened & now though fully awake, H is still struggling to communicate.
but here is the amazing thing. i was afraid that when he finally woke-up & realized his right limb was missing, he wouldn't be able to take it. BUT i was wrong.
instead of worrying over his missing leg OR even his impaired speech, H is healing his heart & mending old wounds. not even able to form a sentence, he called for me by name yesterday. he had my mother dial our brother today so that he could tell him he loved him. had her call our 1st cousin to ask when he was coming to 'see about him'. when an aunt visited that he had not spoken to in several years, he kissed her hands.
i am well today. knowing that no matter what H's future, his spirit is healing others while being healed. that is TRUE salvation.
peace & OM!:)

It's unfortunate that it takes such a huge and traumatizing experience to help us wake up and realize the blessings we have surrounding us, but then again it's never too late. I am so happy for H!

How amazing, there is something so powerful about people taking tragedy and turning it into healing. You reminded me of a quote, I couldn't remember who it was by, but I found it was by Washington Irving:
There is in every heart a spark of heavenly fire
which lies dormant in the broad daylight of prosperity,
but which kindles up and beams
and blazes in the dark hour of adversity.
My thoughts are with you, your brother, and your family.
